James Riley

James Robert Riley was born on May 7th, 1990 and has been a resident of Greenwood Lake for over thirty years.  After graduating from Tuxedo High School in 2008, he attended Rockland Community College where he studied Fine Arts and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree six years later.  He prefers traditional art, his main medium being colored pencils.  His two main art genres are trains/railways and furry anthro art.  He has had a passion for Thomas the Tank Engine ever since he watched Shining Time Station in his early childhood, and wants to introduce today’s generation to the origins of Thomas, honoring Rev. Wilbert Awdry’s legacy.  Among his inspirations are Walt Disney, Hayao Miyazaki, Tim Burton, Maurice Sendak, Rev. Wilbert Awdry Vivienne Medrano and Yoram Gross.  His favorite childhood books and films/tv shows which have inspired him include The Railway Series, Disney’s Robin Hood, The Fox and the Hound, The Adventures of Pinocchio, Where the Wild Things Are, Helluva Boss and The Pagemaster.  James’ grandmother, Ann Langan, was a well-respected employee of the GWL Library, and like her husband, Bob Langan, a well-known resident of Greenwood Lake.  James currently works as a substitute custodian at the Greenwood Lake and Tuxedo School Districts and does volunteer work at the Trolley Museum of New York in Kingston and For Fox Sake Sanctuary in Lindley.  For more information, contact James at jamesrileytl@gmail.com.
